Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the benefits to registering on wOw?

A: Many! In order to comment on the site, receive newsletters and alerts, customize your Star Signs and receive local Hair Day Weather forecasts, you need to be registered. Also as we continue to expand wOw, you then will be the first to know how to take advantage of new features.

Q: How do I register on wOw?

A: Click on “register” on the right side of the red band on the top of this page. You can also click here.

Q: How do I sign in?

A: As long as you’re registered, you can sign in any time using the box on the left-hand side of wOw just below the navigation bar. You can also click here.

Q: What is the difference between Talk to Us and Contact Us?

A: Contact Us is a way to email wOw to let us know your thoughts and questions about the site. Talk to Us allows you to comment directly onto the site. If you want to post a comment, simply write it in the Talk to Us box and it will appear. In order to comment on wOw you need to be registered and signed in.

Q: How do I reply to another reader’s comment?

A: If you’re signed in, you’ll see a small reply button on the bottom right of every comment. Simply click on it and write your thoughts in the Talk to Us box and hit Submit.

Q: When I post a reply to another reader’s comment, it doesn’t appear directly below but instead it shows up a few comments down the page. Why is that?

A: If other people have replied to a comment before you, their replies will appear first. Comments show up in the order in which they were submitted, from top to bottom.

Q: Why can’t I post a comment?

A: If you are having trouble posting a comment it is probably because you are not signed in. Also, it is important to give the computer a few moments to process your comment. Be patient before pressing submit again.

Q: What are the wOw guidelines for commenting?

A: The Ten Commandments of Commenting on wowOwow:

  • Thou shalt not call one another derogatory names

or replaced, your account being temporarily locked or being
permanently banned from accessing wowowow.com.

Q: Why doesn’t Hair Day Weather show my local forecast?

A: For the weather function to find you, you must be signed in. If you’re signed in and it is still showing an incorrect location, you can customize by entering your zip code.

To increase the size of type, there is a little trick, important for us old eyes…. Control Shift ++ increases the type size, and Control - decreases it.

OR
For those who are “mouse” oriented, go to the top of your browser page,
click on, ‘View’
click on ‘Text’,
select a ‘Larger Font Size’.

Hey everybody Mugsie’s works, Lily your solution is a little much for those of us who are computer challenged. I don’t know where my view button is. Thanks Bev.

Mugsy,
I must be doing it wrong because when I tried it, it went to “Favorites” and automatically added this site a million times.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi, beverly. The ‘view’ is not a button, it is an item on the menu bar - just under the top border of the browser. If you prefer the keyboard, you can open it with alt-v

ctrl-shift-+ works with the ‘+’ key next to the backspace. I usually skip the shift and use the ‘+’ key on the numeric keypad.

ctrl— will reduce the text size. That is, hold the control key and press the minus key. The first - is for notation.

I’d like to add a comment here, that on Vista Ultimate, on the upper task bar (AKA:command bar; AKA:menu bar)there is actually a Large blueA in front of a not quite as large greenA with a <———> under them…click on that, and your font choices are wonderful! Don’t have that icon? click on the menu bar, (command bar), anywhere, *I chose to Right-click closest to the “house” icon, (your home page), and chose…”customize command bar”, then slide over and down the menu box, that pops up as you choose options, to: “add or remove commands”……there ya go…all the icons you can configure…. however you like…take off the ones you do not use, and add the ones you want! etc. love this feature! *I do not know if this is available on all Windows Vista, or just the Ultimate. Hope this helps! My print is on largest setting…;o)

Thank you so much! My neck alignment just improved 70 percent with access to this larger type. Now I am breathing more easily and have a happier spine. Who knew? Ctrl shift++ to all who want to relax at the computer instead of strain. Best to you too!

Happy to be of service. It’s hard, you know, whatever the challenge. All that rock ‘n roll in the 60s — they were right. I can barely hear the TV now, full blast. So I have the little closed captioning on driving my friends nuts. Oh, well…..

My question: What kind of file will the site recognize as an image? I’ve tried to upload a TIFF file on the Update Profile page, but a bar near the top of the screen says it is “not an image.” (I made the TIFF file from a PDF I created from some original art.) The TIFF file is smaller than the maximum height and width and fewer than maximum kb. ???

Never mind. I saved the file as a JPEG file and it worked perfectly.

I’m new to the site and just contributed my first post/comment yesterday! Now, do we just have the ability to reply to posts already written, or do we have the ability to write a brand new post on a new topic? Are the post topics controlled by the founders and then just commented on by us? Or, do we have the opportunity to start new discussion threads? Just wondering! BTW - thanks for creating this site, wonderful women! I first heard about it in an interview with Lesley Stahl!

I’ve wondered that myself, I so badly want to get rid of my own but the fam says if the brows go I go. I have the worlds largest uni brow and it takes daily plucking to keep it reasonably small. I look like Sean Connery in the brow zone! lmao.
